Ask a Question. Save a Life.

QPR stands for Question. Persuade. Refer. This suicide prevention training teaches you the prevalence of suicide in your community, the risk factors and warning signs of someone having suicidal ideations and how to intervene to prevent a possible tragedy. The QPR method was developed specifically to detect and respond to anyone emitting suicide warning signs. However, independent researchers and federal agencies who funded the original assessment of QPR have suggested that the QPR intervention could be useful in far broader applications as well.

QPR is an evidence-based prevention program backed by 30 years of research. When properly used QPR works from knowledge, compassion, and understanding.

This training is for individuals ages 18+

Stewards of Children® is an evidence-informed child sexual abuse prevention program developed by the national organization Darkness to Light. This program educates adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. This training program is designed for parents and any adults who work with children or adolescents. Stewards of Children® is the only nationally available program scientifically proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change child-protective behaviors.

Who Uses the Program?

Stewards of Children® is for any responsible adult who cares about the protection of children. Chaucie's Place conducts community Stewards of Children® programs, as well as private trainings for youth-serving organizations and corporations that want:

  • training for staff and volunteers in the prevention of child sexual abuse;
  • to enhance their child protection policies and procedures or respond to insurance requirements; and
  • to lead a community-based initiative and offer prevention training to the community

What Topics are Covered in Stewards of Children®?

  • Facts about the prevalence of child sexual abuse in our community
  • The types of situations in which child sexual abuse might occur
  • Simple, effective strategies for protecting children from sexual abuse
  • The importance of talking about the prevention of sexual abuse with children and other adults
  • The signs of sexual abuse so that you might intervene and be able to react responsibly

What Outcomes Can Be Expected After Training?

  • Increased awareness of the prevalence, consequences, and circumstances of child sexual abuse
  • New skills for adults to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse
  • Proactive, positive change to organizational policies and procedures
  • Individual commitment to action via a personal prevention plan

Chaucie's Place conducts pre- and post-surveys with each Stewards of Children® participant. How is the program delivered?

Stewards of Children® is provided by Chaucie's Place staff, an Authorized Facilitator trained by Darkness to Light. The content of the 2-hour program includes video commentary by adult survivors and experts in the field, as well as group discussion.
